Dr. Mighion has lead accreditation, quality improvement, and patient safety firms for over 10 years. Previously, she served as Managing Director and CEO of Healthcare Consultants International (HCI), the consulting subsidiary of AAAHC. Dr. Mighion has an additional 25 years’ experience working with physician practices, surgery centers, hospitals/health systems, Universities, and medical technology companies. Prior to heading up HCI, she worked with internationally recognized consulting firms and spent time as a corporate banker. Dr. Mighion earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Princeton University, her MBA with a concentration in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and her MD from Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine.

John Gober, DDS
Dr. Gober has been involved with every aspect of building, developing, and managing/directing dental, oral surgery, and traditional Ambulatory Surgery Centers. In recent years, he successfully added oral surgery services to traditional ASCs. In his 25 plus years in practice, Dr. Gober focused on the dental and oral surgery needs of pediatric and special needs patients in the state of Texas. As such, he has unique insight into and experience with the financial aspects of pediatric dental, oral surgery, and anesthesia procedures – along with the codes, reimbursement rates, and facility fees utilized by commercial and state-funded payors as well as Medicaid plans in Texas. He also has experience with compliance relative to TSBDE guidelines and rules. John L. Crowder, Jr., PG, CFPS, CHFM
Mr. Crowder is a Life Safety Surveyor for AAAHC with over 25 years of experience in the construction and development of health care facilities nationwide. As a Certified Health Care Facilities Manager (CHFM) and Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Mr. Crowder possesses a thorough understanding of the design methodology, code requirements, and numerous regulations for health care facilities to meet the conditions for participation mandated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Mr. Crowder maintains a thorough knowledge of the most current and updated code and design requirements through continual education as well as site surveys and plan reviews of numerous health care facilities in the United States. His expertise in translating operational requirements into optimal facility solutions and preparing facilities for upcoming surveys is vital to the successful outcome of each consulting project. Linda Jenkins, RN, BSN, MSA, CASC
Linda has been an AAAHC accreditation surveyor for over 14 years. She is also a member of the AAAHC Corporate Alliance Survey team and the AAAHC Accreditation Committee Work Group (ACWG). Linda surveys ambulatory surgery centers, Medicare certified facilities, office-based surgery centers, dental practices, fertility centers, diagnostic imaging centers, urgent care centers, and oncology centers. Her career includes over 27 years in the ambulatory surgery center arena in the development and operational management of multi-specialty ASCs ensuring quality care within regulatory guidelines. Additionally, she has opened several new ASCs and consults on numerous projects.

Marshall Baker, MS, FACMPE
Marshall has served as a AAAHC Accreditation Surveyor for more than 40 years. He is currently a member of AAAHC’s Engaged Constituency (which represents the AAAHC volunteer governing body) and AAAHC’s Health Plan Advisory Committee. Marshall has also served as Past Chair of multiple AAAHC entities, including the Governing Board and the Standards and Survey Procedures Committee.
Marshall is also an experienced healthcare executive, Administrator, educator, and consultant. His consulting expertise focuses on all aspects of health care management and planning, and he has deep experience in strategic positioning, compensation design, practice structure/formation, and transitional management/turnaround. Michael has been an AAAHC surveyor for over 20 years, where he also serves as a surveyor trainer and as a member of the AAAAHC Corporate Alliance Survey team. He has surveyed ambulatory surgery centers and office-based surgery centers, as well as (but not limited to) urgent care centers, dental centers, lithotripsy centers, imaging centers and radiation oncology centers. Michael has over 30 years of health care management experience, which includes serving as the Administrator of a large, multi-site ambulatory surgery center where he gained extensive experience in multi-site facility management, new facility development, and operations. He also spent 15 years in various hospital management positions, where he gained extensive experience with The Joint Commission and AAAASF accreditation entities.

Karen Zdvorak, RN
Karen has over 30 years of Ambulatory Surgery Center experience as an Operating Room Nurse, Clinical Manager, Administrator, and Risk Manager. Her extensive knowledge and areas of expertise also include Quality Process Improvement, Infection Control, Risk Management, Development, and Regulatory Compliance. Karen has deep experience with AAAHC and Joint Commission accreditation as well as CMS certification. During her career, she has worked with numerous clients teaching and guiding them to accreditation success. In addition, Karen has developed over 65 outpatient surgery centers across the United States. Kamal Hamdan, MD, RN, MS/HSA, CPC, CPHM, LHRM, CPUM, CPUR
Kamal has been an AAAHC accreditation surveyor since 2015 working with health plans, federal employee health benefit (FEHB) plans, and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). He is fluent in Spanish, Arabic, and English. Outside of accreditation, Kamal is a medical professional with over 30 years of expertise in the managed care setting. He has a deep working knowledge in the areas of quality improvement, disease management, pharmacy management, case management, utilization management, risk management and risk adjustments, workers compensation, HEDIS, CAHPS, long term care, and home health care. He’s earned industry recognition for publication of several medical and case management articles.
Kamal earned a Doctor in Medicine (MD) degree and completed his medical training in OBGYN at the High Institute of Medical Science (Havana, Cuba). He then moved to the United States (Florida) where he earned a Master of Science Degree in Health Services Administration (MS/HSA) and an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing, then became a “multi-state” Registered Nurse (RN). He is not licensed as a physician in the US. Kamal is also a Licensed Health Risk Manager (LHRM), Certified Professional in Healthcare Management (CPHM), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional in Utilization Management (CPUM), Certified Professional in Utilization Review (CPUR), and Independent Case Manager.

Grace Sub Laban, LCSW
Grace has been leading managed care and human service organizations through accreditation surveys for AAAHC, JCAHO, CARF, COA, and NCQA since 1994. She also served as a AAAHC surveyor for Health Plans for five years. Grace has more than 30 years’ managed care experience in Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial insurance, and has held leadership positions in operations, compliance, clinical services, population health, and quality. Grace has been involved in “start-ups” entities building quality into operations through policy and procedure development, process improvement, training, professional development, and accreditation. As a licensed clinical social worker, she has exceptional expertise in behavioral health and a passion to ensure true integration of mental health and wellness into the medical care and services offered by Health Plans. Susan has been a AAAHC Surveyor since 2006 for primary care (Indian Health, Student Health, Community Health), Patient Centered Medical Home, Dental Home, health plans, office-based surgery centers, and ambulatory surgery centers. She serves as Chair of the AAAHC Health Plan Standards Committee. Susan’s 30 years of executive management and operational leadership experience in the health care industry includes serving Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC), Accountable Care Organizations (ACO), surgery centers, urgent care centers, AHCA licensed clinics, and managed care health plans.
Susan consults on accreditation readiness, mock surveys, improving operations, transforming to a Medical Home, and complying with Florida-specific regulatory entities such as the Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) and Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Additional expertise includes quality improvement, risk management, credentialing, appeals and grievances, provider/member database maintenance, claims, and provider contract negotiations. Jerry was a surveyor for AAAHC for 16 years, focusing on primary care organizations such as community health, student health, American Indian health, Alaska Native health, and military health, as well as Patient-Centered Medical Home and Dental Home. He has consulted for 20 years with all these types of providers on accreditation and operations, with a strong demand for his experience in student health and Indian health for which he has makes presentations at national and regional conferences. Jerry is a Registered Pharmacist and served as a U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Officer as Chief Pharmacist for several Indian Health Service (IHS) hospitals. He also served as regional pharmacy consultant, Assistant IHS Clinical Research Director, and Administrator and Governing Board member in several IHS hospitals and ambulatory care facilities. Jerry also served as the IHS Program Manager for Accreditation and Certification for all IHS hospitals and ambulatory care facilities, he co-authored the 1st edition of the Indian Health Service Medical Staff Credentialing Resource Handbook and is the recipient of the Meritorious and Distinguished Service Medals, the two highest USPHS awards.
